Geo-Ecology – Environmental Sciences, Master of Science (M.Sc.)
Geo-Ecology is an interdisciplinary environmental science. It aims at understanding the mode of action of biological, chemical and physical processes in the environment. From the soil, to plants, and into the atmosphere: Geo-ecologists study natural and anthropogenic ecosystems such as lakes, forests, fields, brownfield sites, and landfills. They look for ways to deal with the environment in a sustainable way, and develop strategies to solve environmental problems.
The master's programme in Geo-Ecology in Bayreuth offers a great selection of subjects from different areas that can be combined. The lecturers impart their knowledge most competently, and there is also a lot of practice. The University's Ecological Botanical Garden and many field excursions contribute to this. But there is also a lot to take in the physical-technical area, which is of course convenient for me given my previous studies (engineering in the field of environment). With the diverse, future-oriented courses, you are ideally equipped to tackle open questions and problems in environmental protection and all sorts of similar topics. Interaction with and between students is very 'close' and personal. This is not least due to the fact that many seminars and lectures take place in relatively small groups.
