Materials Science & Engineering, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

Modern engineering tasks, especially in the fields of high technology, are complex and interdisciplinary. Consequently, this course of studies provides the fundamental knowledge necessary to be able to consider material-scientific, mechanical, chemical, and ecological aspects in the development of complex systems. It also teaches the methods for applying this knowledge, e.g. in innovation and technology management.

When I decided to study materials science and materials engineering in Bayreuth, I was particularly convinced by the broad orientation and the possibility of not having to commit myself right away. The study programme did not disappoint me in any way, and I never had any difficulties in getting exactly the project or thesis topic I wanted. Internships were found quickly – also because of the many industry contacts of the research groups. I can recommend this study programme to anyone who is interested in natural sciences but does not yet know exactly what they want to do later, and who does not want to be just a number at a university.
