African Cluster

The African Cluster Centres (ACCs) serve as hubs for joint research initiatives and networking activities for the University in general and the Cluster in particular.

The tasks of the ACCs include initiating and implementing research projects related to selected disciplines within the research focus areas of the University of Bayreuth, in particular of the cluster, connecting their members to a large African and worldwide academic network, organising and hosting international conferences, and providing a platform for academic exchange at the doctoral and postdoctoral level. The overarching goal is to promote global collaboration in research, teaching, and the social mission of universities, among a generation of young scholars. Their aim, in turn, is to address the global challenges of our time, and to reshape African studies through transdisciplinary approaches, in order to gain new insights into the diversity of Africa and its diasporas.
