University of Bayreuth rocks the city centre at the Bayreuth Citizens' Festival

As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, the University of Bayreuth is partnering with this year’s Bayreuth Citizens' Festival and will play a key role in shaping the downtown festivities from 4 to 6 July 2025 – with lectures, hands-on experiments and plenty of music.

This year, the main stage at the Neptune Fountain will become the “Uni Bayreuth Stage”. As part of its anniversary year, UBT is contributing to the festival’s musical highlights with performances by the University Symphony Orchestra, University Choir and its Big Bands. A special party highlight awaits on Saturday with the “Night of the Profs”, where the University President and several other professors will take to the decks as DJs – turning the city centre into a dancefloor.

Science takes centre stage on “Culture Sunday”, when 10 professors from the University of Bayreuth will present their research in engaging lectures and interactive experiments for both children and adults – covering topics ranging from chemistry, life sciences and economics to artificial intelligence.

UBT has also designed this year’s commemorative festival beer stein, featuring artwork that celebrates 50 years of the University and its close ties to the city of Bayreuth. A special anniversary beer, brewed and bottled by the Haberstumpf Brewery in collaboration with the University, will be available for purchase – together with the stein and an exclusive anniversary T-shirt – at the University’s stand on Maximilianstraße during the festival.
