Top results for the University of Bayreuth in the CHE ranking

The University of Bayreuth continues to be one of the top universities in Germany. In the latest ranking by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE), it received excellent ratings in the subjects of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, geography, geosciences, computer science, mathematics, physics and sports science. The CHE surveyed around 120,000 students throughout Germany.

The University of Bayreuth scores well above average in the subjects of sport, physics and geosciences. Bayreuth students give their university top marks for the range of courses on offer, the general study situation and support during studies, library facilities, IT infrastructure and rooms.

When it comes to the study situation at the University of Bayreuth, students in all subjects surveyed value the excellent support provided by lecturers, the close-knit support during their studies and the breadth of content on offer. Top marks were given in particular to the support provided at the beginning of the studies. Bayreuth students also gave very high marks for the organization of their studies, support for stays abroad and academic skills. The introduction to academic work and laboratory practicals also received top marks. Furthermore, the respondents are very satisfied with the general study situation at the University of Bayreuth. They predominantly find that it is "very possible to complete the degree in a reasonable amount of time".

"We have received confirmation here that we offer academically demanding degree programs that provide exactly what young people need for their careers, and that we provide them with excellent support. I would like to thank all teaching staff and researchers at the University of Bayreuth for this," says University President Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible. "Considering that this generation in particular began their studies under coronavirus conditions and then experienced the transition to normality, I am all the more pleased that they are so satisfied with the conditions at the University of Bayreuth."

The excellent results of the ranking are based on a CHE survey of Bayreuth Bachelor's students in the subjects of biology, chemistry, biochemistry, geography, geosciences, computer science, mathematics, physics and sports science. Together with facts about the courses on offer, the assessments provide an overview of the actual conditions in the degree program. In addition to the general study situation, students in the CHE survey also rate the courses on offer, the supervision and support provided during their studies, digital teaching elements and the practical and research orientation of teaching - the latter shows, for example, the extent to which current research findings are referred to in the courses and students are given the opportunity to carry out their own research activities as part of the courses.
